Developing Athletes in Oxfordshire

Situated at the Horspath Athletics Track, Oxford City Athletics Club provides athletic coaching and competition for athletes of all abilities from across the City of Oxford and beyond

Oxford City Athletics Club

The early history of the club is not well recorded, but it appears that the original men’s Oxford City AC grew out of the YMCA athletics club and the Oxford Harriers AAC, which was revived in 1921 after the Great War.

The Club has been firmly based at Horspath since 1976, and continues to provide a home for athletes of all abilities to enjoy the sport.

Our Track

Oxford City AC have been at the Horspath track since the mid-1970s, and it has been our home track since then. The track was a cinder track initially, but was converted to all-weather tartan track in 1996. It was resurfaced by Oxford City Council in 2015. The track has undergone constant maintenance and improvement, with funds being provided by the Club and Oxford City Council. The track is used year-round, and is particularly busy in the summer, when there are competitions at the track every week from April to September.
