Bannister Miles returns in 2025

After its debut last year, where over 1500 people took part in celebrating the 70th anniversary of Roger Bannister’s 3:59.4 mile at Iffley Road, Oxford University is excited to announce it will be returning to Oxford on bank holiday Monday, 5th May 2025. It is being organised by Oxford University’s cross country and athletics clubs and supported by the university.

Event Overview

In the morning there will be a mass road mile down Oxford’s beautiful High Street. The event is open to all ages and abilities and offers a rare opportunity to race the iconic mile distance. Participants will set off in waves, passing the historic buildings lining the High Street before crossing Magdalen Bridge and finishing on Iffley Road. It would be great to see club-mates, friends and families getting involved together. Upon completion of the mile, participants are invited to the Iffley Road Track to collect their finishers’ medal.
