Oxford City AC welcomes Senior athletes of all abilities looking for an opportunity to train and compete in a variety of athletic disciplines.
The club was founded in 1946 as a club for Senior Men, and throughout the 1960s and 1970s was among the strongest athletics clubs in the UK. In the 1970s the club merged with Oxford Ladies, and a Junior section was added. We continue to produce top flight Juniors, many of whom continue with the club as Seniors. We have always had a strong presence in Senior Athletics, and for many years have held a prominent position in the South of England in Road Running, Cross Country and Athletics.
Any Senior member of the club who is over 35 is also eligible to compete as a Veteran.
For all Senior Members of the club, membership includes the cost of your England Athletics registration fee. This enables you to enter all EA accredited competitions and enables a Power of 10 profile. Your EA registration also means you are eligible for a large range of discounts.
Membership allows access to the track when it is open, training sessions, and club competitions.
All Senior Members are encouraged to compete in club teams.
The two main Athletics leagues we compete in are the Southern Athletics League and the Southern Counties Veteran Athletics League (over 35s). There are also many Open competitions that can be entered individually. We run a regular Open Series at Horspath on Wednesday’s over the summer – Running2Time Oxford City MidWeek Opens.
For Cross Country our main leagues are the Oxfordshire Cross Country League and the Chiltern Cross Country League.
Senior endurance runners can also compete in club teams in local, regional and national road running competitions.
