The sun shone on the five U17 women athletes who competed for OCAC at the third Wessex match at Horspath on Sunday. A headwind down the home straight meant it wasnโt necessarily a day of PBs but really strong performances by everyone left the team in first place at the end of the day. Venetia Mahony won the high jump with another 1.60 clearance; sheโs having a great season with really consistent performances. Flo Wootten won the 80 hurdles on her first competitive outing over this distance in a time of 13.5. Emily Channon came second in the 1500 with a time of 5.31 and then went on to win the B string 300 in 46.9. Payton Carter came third in a strong 200 and then came second in the 300 shortly afterwards. The 100m saw Flo coming 2nd in the A string and Elena Deleval Alemany winning the B string; Elena then jumped a big PB in the long jump to win it with 4.92m. Flo also won the B string long jump with 4.39m. The day concluded with a win from the 4×100 relay team of Elena, Emily, Payton and Flo. Well done to all of the athletes who competed; another memorable day with a great team spirit.
